Dr. JAVIER CARRILLO-HERMOSILLA

Professor and Head of the department of Economic Environment of Business at IE Business School, Javier Carrillo has dedicated the last few years to researching sustainable technological change and new management and policy models that address the environmental challenge in an innovative way. His advances in the field are expounded in numerous articles and works on environmental sustainability and technological change, published in specialized journals like Energy Policy, Ecological Economics, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Economic Issues, Journal of Industrial Ecology, International Journal of Sustainable Development, Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies for Global Change, among others. He has coauthored six books, including Eco-innovation: When Sustainability and Competitiveness Shake Hands (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009) and Progress in Sustainable Development Research (Nova Science Publishers, 2008). Furthermore, he regularly contributes to leading newspapers and media and participates as a speaker in conferences on economics, business and the environment.

Professor Javier Carrillo holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Alcala (Madrid), an MBA with Honors from IE Business School, and has attended several courses and seminars on economics, sustainability, innovation, and research and teaching methods from Harvard Business School, Bentley College, University of Cambridge, among others. He is also a Fellow at the Centre for European Studies Jean Monnet at IE University; Adjunct Professor of the University of Alcala; Visiting Researcher at the University of Cambridge (UK); Independent Expert, assisting the European Commission with the evaluation of FP7 proposals for Theme 6 “Environment (including climate change)”; Member of ISEE (International Society for Ecological Economics); Member of EIASM (European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management); Member of EARIE (European Association for Research in Industrial Economics); Member of DIME (Dynamics of Institutions and Markets in Europe); and Lifetime member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society (the international honor society for collegiate schools of business)
